A beautiful variety of forms

Mineral crystals take on a variety of forms, rounded, square and the long multisided forms that are “classic” crystals. A number of factors affect the formation of crystals, such as chemical composition, directional pressure and heat. During the geologic processes, minerals are compressed with such force that atoms are forced to restructure and line up in new ways. Force can be from all sides, or shearing type force that changes the direction of crystal growth. As metamorphic rocks are formed, the crystal structure can also combine with other crystal structures to give a mix of crystal types, as seen in several of the photos on this page.

Crystal clusters can make lovely jewelry and home decor pieces. See our sales page for available one of a kind jewelry and decorative pieces.
